AB Dance Company’s new dance piece leads us to surrealistic and comical dinner party where guests get possessed by dance. Starting as a formal occasion, the dinner party – as you may guess – doesn’t go smoothly by the rules of the Golden Book of Behavior. The will be also uninvited guests coming and going. What exactly will follow from all this?
“In my career as a choreographer, I have often been interested in dramatic situations where people have somehow been dropped into a space, place or environment where they can’t be or where they obviously don’t belong. And that’s why they dance. Twists and turns may seem comical, but in the inner reality of individuals, something more than a laughter explodes.”
Illallisvieraita is the first choreography for AB Dance Company by choreographer and dance artist Jyrki Karttunen. The piece was included in the Art Testers funded by Ministry of Education and Culture, Finnish Cultural Foundation and Svenska kulturfonden in autumn 2021.
