Aurinkobaletti presents a new wild interpretation of Claudio Monteverdi’s baroque opera The Coronation of the Poppaea! The opera, premiered in 1642, is transformed into an unprecedented steampunk-inspired contemporary dance piece by choreographer Urmas Poolamets and composer Ismo Laakso.
The Coronation of Poppaea tells the tragic love story of the Roman emperor Nero and his second wife Poppaea Sabina. It’s a story about morality, scheming, power, and love.
