AB Ensemble Presents: Made in 11 Days

Tanssijat tanssivat.

Is it possible to create a new dance piece in 11 days? Come and take a peak on what can be produced when you give 11 days to talented artists eager to create and knowing each other so well that they throw themselves into the play.

Made in 11 Days is the concept AB Dance Company’s ensemble created to play with choreography and more generally with contemporary dance.
Let’s change the perspective by giving the opportunity to the dancers you already know well – or you will soon know − on the stage to switch roles to be choreographers. Côme Calmelet-Pyykkö, Linda Holmström and Arttu Halmetoja  were each given 11 days rehearsal time with other dancers; 10 days in rehearsal studio and 1 day on theatre’s stage with the technical team.

The three different pieces are gathered in one condenced evening where fresh ideas and curiosity are the essence.

The concept is not completely new to AB Dance Company, dancers have been choreographers in Free Hands – Tanssijoiden ilta (2015) and in Kolme väriä (2020). But now we want to make this concept a recurrent rendez-vous between you, our beloved audience, and our dancers’ ensemble.

Côme Calmelet-Pyykkö: Four lines / some escapism

With this project I want to explore the concept of positive outlet, creative escapism. Everybody has its own personal way to transform frustration or any supposedly negative emotion into something else. We want to get a tour of some different habits to proceed through the interconnection of choreographical scores and accumulative music.

Linda Holmstöm: Mind full of flies I never killed

Are you here yet? Was that you coming in?

That moment when you open your skull and let the beams and colors hit everyone’s faces and everyone falls into your world through their own glasses and experience what you are just now in this moment without filters except the glasses that they have obtained and been given by life that can be very different but still the same for the most part except when you accidentally sit on your glasses and

Sshhh. Breathe. Weight. Cells of my body. Sound. Connected.

Mind full of flies I never killed is a solo, duet, trio and so on about the mind.

Arttu Halmetoja: Afterglow

What is born when seperately grown dances collide?

What remains afterwards?

You are invited to witness this theatrical afterglow – a choreography that was born when detached dances met.
